The Web Content Manager position combines the skills of writer, editor and project manager with experience in web-based technologies to create and maintain compelling content for various sections of the Meharry Medical College website. The Web Content Manager will serve as project lead for the launch of the Meharry Medical Group clinical web site and will be responsible for creation and maintenance of all content for the site. Additionally, the Web Content Manager ensures that all web-based content is delivered in a consistent manner (supportive of the brand guidelines), and that content conforms to Meharry Medical College’s goals and objectives, positioning, and messaging as well as the latest SEO standards. Candidates should have a background in copywriting, front-end web development, content migration and SEO.

• Oversees strategic direction, launch, and development of content for SOM academic and clinical web sites
• Translates business objectives into web site objectives, enriched by benchmarks
• Creates interactive and robust content for education and patient care web sites
• Ensures web site readiness
• Maintains web site content calendar
• Optimizes content with latest (SEO) Search Engine Optimization techniques to improve search engine rankings
• Maintains Find a Doctor Directory
• Interfaces with the IT Web Team to ensure content is successfully tested and implemented
• Ensures clear, concise, and grammatically correct copy is used on the website.
• Adheres to and enforces all SOPs, guidelines, and policies related to the Meharry Medical College website
• Translates positioning and branding to all website content, determine inconsistencies, and recommends and implements solutions to resolve inconsistencies
• Works with various stakeholders to create, write, develop, and/or edit appropriate content using best practices for web development
• Manages stakeholder expectations proactively and ensures successful and timely completion of projects
• Assist with reputation management, online reviews and creation of online profiles
• Tracks Google Analytics
• Provides reports on web site usage and trends and well as an annual comparison analysis report
• Ensures clear, concise, and grammatically correct copy is used on the website.
• Adheres to and enforces all SOPs, guidelines, and policies related to the Meharry Medical College website

• Establishes and oversees a team of content Ambassadors
• Serves as part of a communications team and assist with communications duties including patient communications, publications and social media
• Responsible for creating and maintaining digital asset library
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Strong project management skills with ability to oversee production of multiple projects
• Comfortable with change and ambiguity with ability to effectively resolve conflict and identify solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
• Customer Service skills
• Commitment to quality

Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required in journalism, English, communications or related field. Master’s degree or terminal degree preferred.
  • Journalistic experience preferred covering health care, community activities, nonprofit organizations, or related fields for a general audience at a print publication or website.
  • 3-5 years of experience producing online content.
