Cracker Barrel is on the search for a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Team! Our Accounting Department oversees generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for assigned areas of responsibility. In this role, you will prepare be responsible for preparing journal entries to record assets, liabilities, shareholder’s equity, revenues and expenses. You will also validate sales revenue components for multiple companies and systems; analyze financial information; and prepare reports aimed at providing management insight and awareness to financial performance and condition of specific corporate entities. To accomplish specified goals and objectives, you will provide leadership over sales revenue projects and processes. To be successful in this role, you will use your strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with others and to develop and enhance sales revenue systems and processes.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
Prepare balance sheet, income statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position. Review and analyze financial information and reconcile general ledger accounts. Provide timely analysis of material changes in these accounts. Research issues raised by management, compile supporting documentation, and prepare reports and responses to the issues. Write and maintain monthly financial reports, particularly related to corporate reporting areas. Assists with providing timely and accurate quarterly corporate projections to Planning and Analysis.
Development of Accounting Systems and Processes
Works directly with Information Systems in developing and implementing various new accounting systems to ensure increased efficiency and accuracy in the accounting process. Ensures compliance and maintains accounting system controls.
Participation in Accounting Projects and Processes
Collaborates with others internal and external to the accounting function to ensure the department objectives are accomplished. Assists with management of projects, processes, and timelines.
Bachelors in Accounting from accredited university and 0-3 years related experience.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Working knowledge of accounting systems and internal systems of control.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills.
Knowledge of financial statement preparation.
