Blog Post: The Six Biggest Applicant Lies - The Abbreviated Version

posted Friday, June 5, 2009 9:09 AM

I know I'm supposed to be blogging here but I just read a really good blog from The Recruiters Lounge on this topic. So, why reinvent the wheel?

Here is the short version of the post.

The six biggest applicant lies are:

1. Claiming a degree not earned.

2. Diploma Mills or a Fake Degree.

3. Job Title

4. Dates of Employment

5. Compensation

6. Lack of Criminal Record

People, don't do this - especially today when it's a buyers market for employers. We check references. We call people. We search online. We find out you have exaggerated, or worse, outright lied, and we move on. It's as simple as that. Be honest. Be yourself.  Don't shoot yourself in the foot.
